PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland could be breaking weather records on Friday.

Portland had its warmest day so far this year on Thursday reaching 83 degrees. While that was substantial, 15 degrees above normal, it’s nothing compared to how warm it could get Friday afternoon.

The latest warming trend comes with dry winds from the northeast. Records will likely be broken by late afternoon if temps get to 90 degrees. The record at PDX for May 10 is 89 degrees (2019). The possibility exists for records again on Saturday, although the forecast is trending a couple degrees cooler, upper 80s. The record for May 11 is 91 degrees (1971).

Additionally, places like Seaside could reach the upper 70s to low 80s for the second day in a row.

All this unusually warm weather only lasts a couple of days. Just in time for Mother’s Day, highs will drop about 10 degrees which will make for a much more pleasant afternoon on the patio Sunday. Highs for the second part of the weekend are expected to reach the upper 70s to low 80s.
