High pressure continues to dominate Friday night and Saturday resulting in quiet, pleasant and mostly clear/sunny conditions.

Tonight will be partly to mostly clear with low temperatures falling into the seasonal low to mid 50s. We have the potential to see the northerly lights tonight and sky conditions look to be pretty good to see them if they stretch this far south.

Saturday brings a nearly picture perfect day with sunshine and high temperatures reaching into the upper 70s and potentially lower 80s. It will be a fabulous day for all the outdoor activities going on around the KC area. By the end of the day Saturday cloud cover will start to creep into the area.

Sunday (Mother’s Day and graduation day for many surrounding universities) will bring a First Warn as scattered rain and thunderstorms are possible. The day will not be a total wash out, there will be periods of dry time and times with some showers or thunderstorms. Showers will be limited through the morning, but will slowly build as scattered wet weather chances into the afternoon and evening. A few thunderstorms cannot be ruled out during this timeframe so please plan accordingly for potential on and off wet weather. While there will be dry time, it will be warm afternoon as highs hit the upper 70s once again. Rain & storm chances will increase and become more widespread Sunday night and into Monday morning.

A broader widespread threat for wet weather is expected on Monday, with another First Warn. At this time, severe storm activity is still limited in data, but plan on a few stronger thunderstorms by mid to late afternoon. It will be a wet weather day all day as the low slowly transfers to the east. The abundance of cloud cover and rain throughout the day will cause temperatures to remain cooler in the low 70s.

A slight break from shower activity is expected, but even as we transition out of one storm system and look to enter in a new one to the central planes there is still a threat for isolated showers. Temperatures will remain in the middle 70s during this time and by the time we make it to Wednesday and Thursday, new front and low pressure combination builds Rayne chances back up. Next week overall does not seem to be a major severe weather risk constant soaking wet weather is going to be a factor.
